My Why: A near catastrophic mountain bike accident made me realize that everyone needs an estate plan BEFORE life happens like it happened to me. I nearly was run over on a roadway after I crashed on my mountain bike and lay helpless with a broken hip unable to move.
Fortunately I recovered and created my own estate plan.
Regardless of your financial circumstances I am committed to helping EVERYONE to create an estate plan through my practice or through my nonprofit.
Searching the internet is one way but we believe not the best way to find the right planner for your situation. You can’t decide whether you wish to become my client, or choose another solution, until you know if we are a good fit or not so I offer a way for us to get to know each other and decide whether we agree to work together.
Whether you become a client or not, my hope is. that you become an educated consumer before you finalize your plans. Our approach to planning will enhance your outcomes. By taking a holistic approach means that you are both:
1. Planning for the unexpected and
2. Planning for the best outcomes
Some things are completely or largely outside our control and that is why our logo includes the life preserver.
Other things are mostly within our control and knowing how to protect, preserve and enhance our lives and our legacy depends on choices we make and consulting with those who know what we don’t know. That’s why we seek out clients who wish to make sure that their financial, tax and business plans will work in concert with their estate plans.
Mediator: I am passionate about mediation since it focuses on reaching agreements without the costs and uncertainty of trial and makes it the best alternative for many legal conflicts. While a law student in California I mediated disputes coming before the Superior Court in San Diego and subsequently have mediated for over 20 years in Idaho and was appointed by my peers to the Federal District Court of Idaho. My mediation cases have included brain injury, personal and property damages, healthcare, partnerships and personal disputes.
Startup Founder have experienced the struggles and passions of being a startup founders more than once. I established the first state-wide mediation panel in Idaho in the nineties; my cofounder and I patented a cloud-based software platform; on another occasion we developed a property management system for large property management companies. In another venture we developed a cloud-based CRM-Project Management System.
Business and Estate Planner: After mybike crash changed the course of my career I have brought my business, mediation, tax and startup experience to help individuals protect their legacy while alive as well as to maximize the legacy they leave for those who come after them.Lifelong Learner: in my forties I earned two law degrees including the one every attorney is required to have (the JD) and a graduate degree that focused on business law and tax (the LLM) including education in international law at the U. of Exeter, trademarks, patents. My education spans the Ivy League (Dartmouth), Catholic Universities (law degrees from U. of San Diego) and course work at public institutions including Boise State grad school.
Tech savvy: I have been on the internet since the nineties; I began my tech career as an assembler programmer and later systems designer for clients in a broad variety of industries including manufacturing, property management, bookstore management, and cloud computing. I taught legal research for Lexis for four years in the nineties while getting my law degrees.
